classic British boozey rock 'n' roll, a perfect band for anyone into the Dogs D'amour or Quireboys styles. One of the best British bands of the era. Ripley's vocals are fantastic (he came along way in 2 years - halfway between Ron Young of Little Caesar and Spike on this one) and EVERY song is killer, my pick being Baby's So Fine. An outstanding release, shame they never did anything else after this. 9.5/10

Baby Tuckoo was an English hard rock / NWOBHM band, formed in Bradford, West Yorkshire England, United Kingdom in 1982. Their name is taken from the James Joyce novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. They're generally considered a part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
They released two albums with Rob Armitage (vocals), Neil Saxton (guitar), Andy Barrott (keyboards), Paul Smith (bass) and Tony Sugden (drums).
Prior to their recording career, Steve Holton (vocals) and Alan Tidswell (keyboards) were in the band.

Firefly is the tenth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep. It was first album without David Byron, lead vocalist and a founder-member of the band, and the first of three albums with John Lawton.
Bassist Trevor Bolder made his Heep-debut on this album and has been (almost) ever-present since, bar a break of about 18 months in 1981-82.
The single from the album was "Wise Man".

CHEAP TRICK: Standing on The Edge [On side one we're faced with a pair of raunchy yet melodic high tech rockers in the form of 'Little Sister' and 'She's Got Motion', but it's the "Beatles gone AOR" power ballad 'Tonight It's You' that steals the show

along with the lilting, even ethereal midtempo AOR of 'Love Comes'. 'How About You' is an energetic rocker which improves with repeated listening.

The story of the song Dream Dancer is this: The song was the last song in the first vinyl release of Crimson Glory album in 1986. When the album was transfered to cassette, the song was left out. For this reason, the group published the Lonely 12" Single in 1988.

Now it gets a bit complicated: this is "Thunder in Rock", full-length album number three from the Canadian rock band Myofist. Back home in Canada the disc was called "Fleet Street" and the band Fist. In the U.S., however,the disc was called the same as in Europe ("Thunder in Rock"), but the band name was Fist. Thus Canada = Fist and "Fleet Street", U.S. = Fist and "Thunder in Rock". Are you with me so far?
OK. But when they then would release the disc in Europe, you discover that in England is already a fairly established band also named Fist. Damn it! So what do you do? Well, then it is not enough to change the name of the disc to "Thunder in Rock", to change even the name of the band to Myofist! But only in Europe. Therefore the disc is called both "Thunder in Rock" or "Fleet Street" depending on which country you buy it in. Complicated? Yes. Smart career move? No. Good album? YES!

2112 (pronounced "twenty-one twelve") is the fourth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1976. The Toronto dates of the 2112 tour were recorded and released as All The World's a Stage in September 1976.
The album 2112 features an eponymous seven-part suite written by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, with lyrics written by Neil Peart. The suite tells a dystopian story set in the year 2112. Since the album is named after the suite it is sometimes described as a concept album. Technically it is not, as the songs on the second side are completely unrelated to the plot of the suite. Rush repeated this arrangement on the 1978 album Hemispheres.
2112 is one of two Rush albums listed in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (the other being Moving Pictures). In 2006, a poll of Planet Rock listeners picked 2112 as the definitive Rush album.

RUSH: Grace Under Pressure [One of my favorite Rush albums is this jagged, disturbing gem from the mid-80's.
This time the keyboards are even more prominent, with sequenced-sounding synth. Surprisingly, Alex's guitar makes a huge comeback, and balances the keyboards out with huge, chorused, delayed sweeps of sound, and taut, nightmarish solos. "Afterimage" is a paean to a departed friend of the band, and has both palm-muted single note lines (verses), and brilliant chordal screaming (middle break). "Red Sector A" gallops along on a ruthless, sequenced bass synth pulse, and U2 meets Zeppelin washes of six-string paranoia. "Between the Wheels" features one of Alex's greatest guitar solos. This album also saw the development of a Rush-ism: guitar/real bass dominated verse, keyboard/synth-bass dominated chorus. A masterpiece]

I know many Saga fans would disagree with me saying that this is one of their best albums...and I know that its their most poppy commercial release...and I know that its only got three fifths of the band playing on it....but I still love it. The guys are on top form and Keith Olsen's production as you'd expect is big budget and big sounding on classics like 'Dont Look Down' and 'We've been here before'.

This album brought to a close the Uli Jon Roth (Ulrich Roth) era Scorions after which they changed tack slightly and went on to greater commercial success.
The album is dominated by Uli's magnificent guitar work and contains tracks from all of the previous four studio albums including the recently released, at the time, "Taken by Force".
Also thrown in for good measure are a couple of rock 'n' roll standards, a japanese folk song (given the scorpions treatment) and an early scorpions number - In search of the peace of mind.

It was on tour with Black Sabbath in 1980 when guitarist Ross the Boss joined them and participated in recording their second album, Shakin 'Street, "Solid As A Rock ", produced by Sandy Pearlman. This album is entirely produced in the U.S

Girls with Guns is the debut solo album from Styx guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw. It was released in October 1984 by A&M Records.
The title track was a top 10 hit at rock radio, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and reaching a high of #33 on the Hot 100. "Girls With Guns" was featured in a first season episode of Miami Vice called "Glades."

Hair teased to the sky, Shout is 80's L.A. hair metal to the highest order; in look and in sound. Shout's debut was a welcome addition to my collection in '87, especially since Christian metal of any sort was not in abundance. Ken Tamplin has a great voice and is an excellent guitarist. There is some stellar material on here; songs like "Winners & Losers", "It Won't Be Long" and the exceptional "Shout" are the albums best tracks. The layered vocals, heavy guitars and melodic keyboards mixing well on these tracks. There are also a few sweet ballads.
Ken played mostly rhythm guitar and that Chuck King recorded much of the lead work. Lanny Cordola, who at the time was with Guiffria, performs some solo work on the track "Shout".

Slammer's The Work Of Idle Hands... must be one of the most American sounding British thrash metal albums from the late eighties. This is partially due to the professional, dynamic production by Mark Dodson, who also produced some Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies albums, but in addition Slammer's style is very similar to most American bands of the time. On this debut Slammer played smooth thrash metal and managed to raise some serious interest. The band appeared to be very capable and quite entertaining in its own way, whilst the production is top-notch.

Classic Hard Rock L.P Famous guitarist phenomenon E.Slick, recorded this one in ’76 (in Capitol rec.), and then went on to play with many great bands, like Little Caesar 2nd album) , Dirty White Boy, etc

melodic Seventies hard rock featuring a post-Bowie Earl Slick on guitar and a post-Stories Bryan Madey on drums, as well as the considerable vocal and songwriting talents of Jimmie Mack. Vaguely similar to Thin Lizzy, but with a definite American spin.
Slick's guitar is superb throughout -- check out his Ronson-style slide on Sho'Nuff - and a couple of tunes (PJ Proby, the melancholy Burnt Love) retain a fleeting flavor of his earlier Bowie gig. Mack's singing is gutsy and bluesy (think David Coverdale or James Dewar), and while he's no Springsteen, his lyrics are wry and more poetic than one usually expects from the genre. Most songs are by Mack, in fact, with Slick writing or co-writing only a handful. There are so many memorable tunes here: the hopeful Do It, the macho posturing of Heaven Couldn't Find, the epic glory of The Way Down, and Slick's own homage to the legendary PJ Proby.

Of all the female voices that have dared to nip at Janis Joplin's coat tails, Lauren Smoken's is the most powerful.

Soldier's Gun is the first studio album by the Norwegian hard rock band Stage Dolls. The album was recorded in the fall of 1984 at Nidaros Studios in Trondheim, Norway with the same producer, Bjørn Nessjø, and engineer, Rune Nordahl, as fellow Trondheim hard-rockers TNT. The album was released in the early winter of 1985 after a successful nationwide tour in Norway supporting the same TNT.
