WINTERLAND: Alone in a Fairground CD ..guitar-oriented goth rock a la The Mission or The Cult (Love-era), The Cure

Voted top Gothic Rock act in the Gothic Underground New Zealand Readers Poll. The songs are all strikingly good, all well written and distinctive melodically, sharing a full sweeping sound and a resemblance to dark Gothic rock, in particular Fields Of The Nephilim and Disintegration-era The Cure.
====================================================
Kiwi goth? Well, not exactly since these guys from New Zealand are actually offering a blend of guitar-oriented goth rock a la the Mission or the Cult (Love-era) and melodic rock structures. All in all, this works well, although I doubt it will find a large public: real death- or goth rockers will find this one much too soft & mellow & fans of ordinary rock will consider them a bit weird or just a little too dark. Nevertheless, this album should appeal to anyone who is into catchy or poppy Goth rock.
