Although his name isn't as instantly recognizable as Steve Vai or Joe Satriani amongst the guitar masses, Stevie Salas is just as renowned as the aforementioned guitarists in other parts of the world (namely Japan), while he has also served as a sideman for the likes of Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger.
Salas' debut didn't exactly light up the U.S. charts, but in Japan, Salas quickly built a large and devoted following. 1994's Back From the Living was named "Album of the Year" in Japan (over releases by such heavyweights as the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith).

5.0 out of 5 stars FUNKY CLASSIC!!,
classy album!! Guys, this album has to be Stevie at his best!! The standout tracks are Stand up, Caught In The Middle Of It, Two Bullets And A Gun and the ballad Indian Chief. Too bad this album is out of stock!!
You guys better find some way to get it and ready to FUNK OUT!!

5.0 out of 5 stars CHUNKY RIFFS,
I purchased this CD years ago for a few bucks just on a whim and I was blown away. The track Two Bullets And A Gun is the kind of rock I like but hear very little of these days. A nice fat, funky mid-tempo guitar riff that screams. Stevie is a master at that stuff. If you look at his resume you'd see he's been around and played with some big names but I never hear anyone mention his name when guitarists are discussed. The guy writes some great tunes and I love his funk rock chops. I definitely recommend this CD to those that enjoy solid funk rock with attitude.

5.0 out of 5 stars This guy should be huge,
Great songs, great vocals and some stunning guitar playing. Nothing but good news. Why bands like GUNS and ROSES hit it soooo big, when far more talented and interesting musos like SALAS labour in obscurity, beats me. This is anthemic stadium rock without the childish lyrics and silly posturing by the aforementioned. Maybe he should complain about childhood abuse and wear a permanent sneer.
