Technothrash is one of the few styles whose rhythmic foundation is generally just enough to arouse the interest of any Metalhead fan. SOTHIS is part of this new generation of bands coming from Italy and playing a high-quality technothrash mixed with swedish melodic death metal influences from time to time. The four songs of this damn-good-sound mcd are of course a collection of wild riffs and fast tempos. The intro of "Psychonoise", with its two killer riffs and its amazing drums play, is just enough to show all the talent of the band. The vocals verge a little bit on black metal and could be similar to Mile Petrozza's (KREATOR) when he screams in his most extreme tones. The solos are not extremely melodic - if you're still able to make a difference between solos, riffs, bridges, breaks and musical themes - but the one of "Turn Off The Light" will for sure mark the audience with its intro worthy of the IN FLAMES' best lucky finds. The last track is an "almost-instrumental" song that lasts for more than seven minutes and that has been composed as a tribute to late Chuck Shuldiner (ex-DEATH). A song that ends the cd magnificently with acoustic guitars and clear vocals. An exceptionnal cd.
