Unlike Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, or Motley Crue, Shotgun Messiah never achieve great commercial success. Nonetheless, Shotgun Messiah cranked out their share of enjoyable and infectious hard rock/heavy metal, and they reached their creative peak with Second Coming. The CD gets off with "Sexdrugsrockn'roll," but when Messiah tears into "Trouble," "Heartbreak Blvd," and "Can't Fool Me" -- which are among the foursome's best and most focused songs -- listeners will be glad to have heard Second Coming.
It's an epic effort from a band who deserved more attention than they received. For headbangers who've never heard Messiah, this decent album would be the best starting point. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A headbanger's favourite,
Shotgun Messiah - Second Coming: Full-throttled dose of high-energy heavy duty rock & roll from this Swedish band's second effort. The first five songs and the last song of this album transcend the boundaries or rock music, the lyrics are simple but smart and there are some guitar solos that would make Sir Jimi blush.
Key tracks are "Sexdrugsrockn'roll", the awesome "Nobody's Home", "Ride The Storm" and their raucous cover of the New York Dolls "Babylon". 'Second Coming' offers it's listener(s) some powerful chops, well-written songs and spontaneity. Overall, a great find.
