Robert LURIE: You speak in too many voices CD ..Folk-a-delic, psycho-ambient experimental pop ditties with depth!!
Robert LURIE: You speak in too many voices [US rock from Athens, Georgia. Emotional and delicate approach. No distortion here. Mainly acoustic stuff. Lurie displays a broad range of styles from solitary singer-with-guitar tunes to unique instrumental cuts which are strange and wonderful. I also like Lurie's somewhat off-kilter vocal harmonies that have me envisioning a really good time had by all during the recording. This is one of the those releases that will grow on you -- it doesn't jump right out with anything that is immediately identifiable, preferring to slowly build into something you enjoy discovering little by little..15 songs.
The Beatles, Lindsey Buckingham, The Church, The Cure, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Elbow, Doves, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Pink Floyd, Beth Orton, Margot Smith, R.E.M., Brian Eno, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Daryl Hall and John Oates.
Sounds Like, in the general stylistic ballpark of (without attempting to equal or imitate) Ryan Adams, Neil Young, David Poe, Flaming Lips, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Lou Reed
==========
From Georgia. Folk-a-delic, psycho-ambient experimental pop ditties with depth & charmin the vein of Bowie's Hunky Dory or Neil Young's 'After the Gold Rush". Critically-acclaimed space-folk music for thinking people. From 1997, 15 tracks
