This is not your standard skate punk, but fans of the harder, more skate-thrash style of Good Riddance, Propagandhi, and of course, 88 Fingers Louie, will eat this up. This album starts with a little vocal clip saying "Are you ready to rock?" followed by a ripping, in your face, hardcore punk track. Rise Against seems to follow a just slightly more emotional track as songs like "401 Kill," "The Unraveling" and "1000 Good Intentions" are slower, and showcase Tim's rigid, yet passionate vocal style. "1000 Good Intentions" is quite close to AFI's musical style. The other side of this band, and the one that is much more prominent on this record, is the melodic hardcore style. You will go nuts hearing scorchers like "Alive And Well," "The Art Of Losing," "Weight Of Time" and "Remains Of Summer Memories". Rise Against could really smoke a crowd on stage, and their lyrics are powerful - they seem to be about broken relationships, but I get kind of a posicore vibe from the songs that really emphasize staying strong and being true to yourself
