RAVEN: Wiped out LP Includes inserts + poster. N.W.O.B.H.M. Check samples!

VINYL IS IN PERFECT CONDITION, the day light made it look a bit strange.
Wiped Out is the second LP. If you're a metalhead who has never experienced the bombastic, Judas Priest-influenced pleasures of Raven, it's best to cut to the chase and go directly to the British headbangers' most essential and enduring output. 1981's Rock Til You Drop is Raven's best album, but 1982's Wiped Out runs a close second. When guitarist Mark Gallagher, drummer Rob Hunter, and the Rob Halford-influenced lead singer John Gallagher rip into such blistering, ferocious classics as "Star War," "Fire Power," "Battle Zone," and "Live at the Inferno," you're hearing a band that was very much in its prime and had yet to lose any of its freshness, imagination, or vitality. Collectors and completists will want Raven's Atlantic recordings despite their problems, but for beginners, Rock Til You Drop and Wiped Out are definitely the gems to start out with.
All songs written by Gallagher and Hunter.
"Faster Than the Speed of Light" – 4:22
"Bring the Hammer Down" – 4:19
"FirePower" – 3:08
"Read All About It" – 3:01
"To The Limit - To The Top" – 7:54
"Battle Zone" – 3:34
"Live at the Inferno" – 3:54
"Star War" – 5:35
"UXB" – 3:25
"20/21" – 1:36
"Hold Back the Fire" – 5:40
"Chainsaw" – 5:17
Ear piercing falsetto vocals from the singing bassist John Gallagher. That along with guitar playing brother Mark's mega fat rock riffs and Rob Hunter Animal(from the Muppet show) like style behind the drums is forming the irresistible Raven-sound.
John Gallagher - Bass, Vocals
Mark Gallagher - Guitar
Rob Hunter - drums
5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, Definately a classic 300 mph thrash masterpiece.

I was very surprised to see no reviews for this classic NWOBHM album. This was one of the craziest trios to play at this time. An excellent and underrated group that really gave 150% when recording and giving a live performance. High energy vocals and a brutal guitarist with, I believe, Rob "Wacko" Hunter on drums. They never made it to the mainstream but were a very influential band for the time. Now that I think about it, I'm glad that they did'nt "make it" because they probably would have sold out. A must have for any 80's underground metal fan.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another Raven/NWOBHM masterpiece,
The NWOBHM was starting to lose some of its steam by 1982. Some of its brightest stars, such as Diamond Head and Tygers of Pan Tang, both on fire in 1980/'81, were now releasing output that was moving in a noticeably more commercial direction and/or lacked the immediacy and underground vibe that characterized the groups' earliest material.
Enter Newcastle's Raven, who had already established their metal supremacy and quest for domination of the world on their debut 1981 long player "Rock Until You Drop," a proto speed metal masterwork that was as fast paced as it was exciting.
You can't keep good men down, and a year later, in May of 1982, the group's second LP for Neat Records, "Wiped Out," was unleashed. Wow! Far from being a disappointment or sophomore slump as so many follow-ups to debuts are, this record was on par with its predecessor and may have even exceeded it. I am listening to it now while writing this review and am struck by how much youthful vigor and energy is packed into every song and every note. EVERY track here absolutely rules and is as true an example of heavy metal to the core as you can get.
Opening with an intro that would not be out of place in a low budget sci-fi movie from the early '80s, "Faster Than the Speed of Light" is one of the most aptly named songs ever and sets the tone for the entire album to follow. The sound quality is raw, just as it was on the debut, and both the adrenaline and amp wattage levels remain set to 11. This is followed by "Bring the Hammer Down," another classic with an anthemic metal chorus that is vintage. Side 2 of the original LP may be even stronger than the first, opening with Raven signature tune and one they would even name a later live album after, "Live At The Inferno." From there the band slow it down somewhat and continue the sci-fi theme of the record's intro with "Star War," a song I've always loved. (Don't forget that in 1982 the original "Star Wars" trilogy was still active, with one movie still to come.) There are classic metal riffs a'plenty all over this album, but the absolute best one may belong to the track that follows, "UXB." Truly arse-kicking. To sweeten the pot are three bonus tracks, which constitute the "Crash Bang Wallop" single, which was a teaser before the album proper's release. These songs keep in line with the energy of the LP tracks and do not disappoint. All in all, you get just over an hour of music with absolutely no filler to be found, just classic NWOBHM all the way.
Raven's catalog is way harder to come by than it should be, usually going back out of print every few years as quickly as it came. But get their first two LPs any way you can -- no price is too high. An all-time personal favorite.
5.0 out of 5 stars OTT big time,
Raven's debut LP "Rock Until You Drop" (1981) got superb follow-up in 1982's "Wiped Out". Here the boys go even faster and further in lunacy and testing their limits with instruments.
What I like most (with cool songwriting, energy, enthusiasm etc. etc.) in early Raven is their humour. We all know Heavy Metal and humour is a tough pair, hard to get working together successfully. Still Raven succeeded in that. Their sense of humour in first 3 albums and "Crash Bang Wallop!" EP (1982) is similar to Monty Python's; they're both funny and anarchistic without being stupid.
5.0 out of 5 stars LISTENING TO THIS WIPES ME OUT,
ONE OF RAVEN'S BEST ALBUMS, EVERY TRACK IS GREAT, ESPECIALLY WITH THE AWESOME SHM AUDIO FORMAT. MUST HAVE FOR ANY CD COLLECTION, BUT DON'T PAY THESE RIDICULOUS OVER-INFLATED PRICES, I BOUGHT MINE FROM THE MUSIC SPECIALIST ON E BAY, THEY ALSO HAVE A STORE IN GEMM, ANTEATERMUSIC. SAVE YOURSELF A TON OF CASH.
CHEERS!
5.0 out of 5 stars "Wiped Out" are the wild, best heavy metal LP!,
The Wild Heavy Metal Power Trio made their best LP! I think there are two brothers that formed a power trio named "Raven", they are from Newcastle, England. Vocals and bass guitar - John Gallagher and lead guitar - Mark Gallagher. They played like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath as Thrash Metal. This cd music goes like "bang, bang, kabooms!" John Gallagher scream that sounded like Robert Plant scream. It's a FUN, ENERGIZED, LOUD, FUNNY CD you are going to enjoy it!!!
