Pride and Glory is Zakk Wylde's first self-fronted album. It has more of a Southern rock sound than Zakk Wylde's other albums incorporating the likes of banjo, harmonica and mandolin.
Upon its release, their one and only album was seen as an almost complete departure from the music Zakk was known for with Ozzy, but the album's dominant Southern rock sound proved to remain a prevalent influence on Zakk's own music up to and including the debut Black Label Society album Sonic Brew. Zakk's songwriting skills come to the forefront on the album; there is a great deal of variety and the songs themselves are very dynamic, with a very loose jam-band feel to a number of them, namely "Shine On" and "Toe'n The Line."
Both "Losin' Your Mind" and "Horse Called War" were released as promotional singles with accompanying music videos, whilst "Troubled Wine" was also released as a promo single but without a video.
All songs written by Zakk Wylde, except where noted.
"Losin' Your Mind" - 5:28
"Horse Called War" - 5:00
"Shine On" - 6:44
"Lovin' Woman" - 3:46
"Harvester of Pain" - 5:06
"The Chosen One" - 6:49
"Sweet Jesus" - 3:48
"Troubled Wine" - 5:39
"Machine Gun Man" - 4:56
"Cry Me A River" - 4:37
"Toe'n The Line" - 5:19
"Found A Friend" - 6:03
"Fadin' Away" - 4:56
"Hate Your Guts" - 4:36
On the original 14-track single-disc Geffen prints of the album, the song "Found A Friend" was track 12 on the record. When it was reissued as a double disc set by Spitfire Records in 1999 the song was accidentally deleted off the album, although still listed on the sleeve.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best You Never Heard,
I had this album when I was a kid, the original Pride & Glory, and it really is one of the better 'southern rock' albums out there (Down's NOLA comes to mind). After I lost I listened to the cassettes I recorded tracks onto, and did up until my last tape deck broke 2 years ago.
I can't tell you about why the guitar is so amazing, it just is. I can't explain how or why I feel the vocals are just right for the pace and beat.
I just hope you pick it up, cuz you'll probably be listening to it 15 years later just like me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Zakk Wylde does Southern Rock,
This is the only album that Zakk Wylde, former guitarist for Ozzy, put out with his band Pride & Glory. It is Southern Rock at its finest, especially considering that Wylde was born in NJ. The songs rock and really show what an amazing artist Wylde really is and the range he is capable of. I highly recommend this album.
5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than your thinking, even better than that!,
This is a great collection of songs from Zakk . Yes this is not anything like BLS, but it shows the artistic awsomeness that is Zakk Wylde.I dont know of another collection of songs that hits all the good stuff. So if your looking for a Metal BLS disk then this may not be it,but it is full of blues accoustic and everything that makes BLS what it is because there is lots of great guitar solo's and ... just get it it is greatness and a rare find. It's the beginging before there was "Zakk Wylde the guitar God" but you can tell there is greatness being polished.
