ORPHAN GYPSY: Darkland Director CD ...True Heavy Metal....Check VIDEO

Independent release, 2002. Here we have the MCD from this pure heavy metal band . The music of this sextet is pure european heavy metal with some touches of power metal and lot of powerful riffs mixed with guitar and keyboards melodies. Some of the harmonies reminded me of bands like Stratovarius but this band has two guitars and sound heavier and more raw than the finnish band. The vocals are really clean and melodic and give the perfect melodies for this heavy metal combo. The twin guitars give a lot of interesting harmonies to the songs and the fast solos add a lot to the mix. A really positive point that many heavy metal bands don´t have right, but they do is the good sound that Orphan Gypsy has. (They sound raw at the same time). Metalheads and lovers of classical metal will like this one a lot.

The amount of potential that this band oozes is staggering. Yes, they're another Scandinavian melodic metal band, but Orphan Gypsy stand head and shoulders above most. It's surprising, considering the material on the Darkland Director material that they've signed with a relatively small label Underground Records. I would have thought that many of the major melodic metal labels, would have grabbed these guys with both hands. Nonetheless, I'm glad the band has found a home. All songs are extremely melodic, with a nod towards Angra and a touch of Iron Maiden. Along with a fantastic vocalist, Orphan Gypsy have a great ear for harmonies and choruses. 'Under The Sun' is the standout track with one of most memorable guitar melodies I've heard in a while.
