This album is way ahead of its time. The lyrical geniuses of Mr Big are a force to be reckoned with. You will never.....never find a musical group with the finely honed razor sharp talent of Mr Big. If you think I am lying give this album a listen.

I am enjoying the great vocals and fun rock songs. Eric Martin is now my favorite rock and roll singer! He just has a great range and power that just electrifies the songs.

If you happened to come across Mr Big's debut when it was released in 1989, well it sounded rather too "progressive" for a hard rock album. The ballads "Big Love," "Had enough," and "anything for you" sounded like the only straightforward, listenable songs. However, songs like "blame it on my youth," "wind me up" "addicted to that rush," "take a walk" grow on you like a rock and roll infection and prove this album to be the most original and complex hard rock record since the seminal Van Halen albums of the 1980s.

Those who got into Mr Big with the more melodic "Lean Into It," when they retrospectively visited the debut wondered "what Mr Big were thinking." They will enjoy the superbly crafted ballads, but, in time, this album may surprisingly infect them with its rockers too.

Mr. Big is a great band. They do not have the shredding sound I think a lot of people are expecting or wanting, but they are great. They are like fine wine. They are an acquired taste. I personally haven't found a bad song from them yet. They show all sides of metal, and they do it with class.

in '89 these guys came out with all guns blazing.
a minimal of ballads(2)more chops here than a butcher shop.check out the out solo on "rock and roll over". the last great 80's band. after this they put out too many ballads. the talent here is undeniable. billy sheehan is from david lee roth's band and talas and whatever planet he comes from,they all play bass there.paul gilbert is probably the most underrated guitarists around and played in racer x.
