FLESHTIZED: Divide & Conquer CD £10 Incredible Brutal Death from Alabama [Awesome Brutal - technical US Death metal. Trust me when I tell you that my head was banging like their was no tomorrow while I was listening to this. Nice low vocals, Constant pounding from the drums, Some extremely well played solos, And bludgeoning riffs pound your skull, Forcing your head up and down. Yep, These guys do some deadly damage.
This little known Brutal Death Metal band from Huntsville, Alabama was a total surprise to me. This is definitely not your cookie-cutter brutal death. First of all, the musicianship is excellent. Second, they use a fretless bass (very rare in the death metal world.) If you are a fan of brutal death, death grind, or even just plain old death metal, you absolutely MUST check this out.
The cd begins blasting away in a brutal death style with blastbeats seemingly trying to crush your skull. This gives way to the awesome fretless bass work and guitar work grooving along to give you a chance to catch your breath, but before you know it you're being pummelled again by the perfectly timed blast beats.
Vocals never reach the cookie monster or gurgle style which is actually quite refreshing for the genre considering the brutality of the music. Through out most of this EP the vocals retain a deep growl and occasionally change to a more high pitched scream. Guitars are played flawlessly and switch from brutal chugging riffs to catchy grooves and then to completely clean melodic passages. You may think that sounds like it could be borderline homosexual but the clean passages compliment the music perfectly and never detract from the absolutely devastating brutality.
The mention of fretless bass may be the only reason I decided to purchase this and I'm glad I did since only 1,000 copies were pressed.) So yeah, the fretless bass work on this CD is incredible and really sets this band apart from the countless death metal bands being churned out every day. I HIGHLY recommend this to fans of any brand of death metal. You will not be disappointed.]
