Melodic Black/Death Metal from Ohio and it is the band's first official album as they had one other demo release prior to this. This has a great attention to detail and clear effort is given to intricacy and creativity. It also has good arrangements that keep the listener interested enough to be eager to hear more from this American version of medieval European Black/Death Metal. All the tracks on this album feature some noteworthy attempts at stepping outside the box that most of these sorts of Black/Death bands reside in. Expect lots of atmospheric chants and wailing that resonate behind a wall of crisp guitar riffing and a broad swath of keyboards and even piano at times. This might remind you of the very early days of IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILLITY
This is an aggressive yet emotional album of which features varying growling vocal styles while keeping an atmospheric and beautiful melody in the background with keyboards and even a flute ! You've got the low, "eery" growls and then the higher pitched, sort of scratchy style vocals assisting with the setting of the ultimate dark mood. This album is a masterpiece and is by far some of the best new metal coming out of the States in a long while
