DARK DECEPTION: Spiritual war CD [Black Metal from Austria. Immortal,Marduk] Check samples!

Dark Deception started in the summer of 1998 and as nearly every black metal band, they produced their own album. The only difference is that the quality of the material (think of bands such as Immortal and Marduk) is far superior to today’s underground standard. It is immediately very obvious which atmosphere the band is trying to create. The screams of helpless people, chaos and war and a feeling that will last till the end of the album. Their second song kicks in really fast with a drum sound that is comparable to the sound provided by Nicholas Barker (ex-Dimmu Borgir). A big plus on this album is that the softer parts aren’t just fillers between the fast pounding drums, but a good example how to change the whole identity of a song. A nice example is the song “Spiritual War”, where the band gives all their energy and yet manages to balance on the thin line between raging drums and ‘soft’ guitar work. Also a nice extra in Dark Deception is the use of a keyboard to create that subliminal atmosphere that gives the finishing touch to the songs.
