CHARLIE ‘UNGRY: The Chester Road Album CD
Obscure NWOBHM Records
Tony and Jeff had something special, besides the bags of talent and being able to actually sing, the songs had a raw edge coupled with a mix of Heavy Metal, rock and a sensitivity which can be heard in the quieter ballad numbers like Digby, Poor Boy Blues and Miracles. All the songs are based on their own personal experiences. You could feel the hurt, the pain and the frustration in just about every line of each song. (The only exception was 'Who is my killer' this is a horror story inspired by Edgar Allan Poe). This coupled with their powerful vocals and sometimes eerie harmonies made for a unique act. Steve Prothoroe on lead guitar, added the punch that was to become the Charlie Ungry sound.

“After some 25 years the Charlie 'Ungry un-released tracks are now available on CD. The Chester Road Album was transferred straight from the original master tape without any re-mastering. What you will hear is the songs as they were played on the day back in the summer of 78. What you will also hear and feel is a raw energy and emotion based on the trials, tribulations of the song writers Tony and Jeff”. Tony - Jeff - Steve - Andy.
