Trespass
BLUE BLOOD: Universal Language LP [Previously Trespass (the famous N.W.O.B.H.M band)
Taking as their primary influence US stadium rockers Ratt and UK's Whitesnake, the British Blue Bludd managed to insert a limited amount of their own identity into two albums for Music For Nations Records between 1989 and 1991. Comprising Phil Kane (vocals), Mark Sutcliffe (guitar), Rob Ariss (keyboards), Dave Crawte (bass) and Paul Sutcliffe (drums), the nucleus of the band had previously played together in the group Trespass. The Big Noise was an encouraging start, although its slick, heavily stylized sound failed to secure significant sales. That fate also befell Universal Language in 1991, though reviews were largely positive.

METAL EXPLOSION Rare N.W.O.B.H.M compilation from the Friday Rock Show Nov. 1980 BBC Records Samson, Taurus, Angel witch, etc
METAL EXPLOSION
REH 397 from the Friday Rock Show was released Nov 1980 BBC Records Samson, Taurus, Angel witch, etc
Eight cuts culled from sessions originally recorded for Radio One's 'Friday Rock Show', this is a sprightly, timely reminder of the oft-ignored depth of talent hidden behind the rapidly rusting NWOBHM handle.
Forget about Gillan's eight minute 'If You Believe Me' and let the likes of 'Paper Chaser' (from the excellent cigarettes 'n' whisky boogie salesmen, Taurus), 'Johnny Cool' (a manifestation of the better side of Praying Mantis' duelling-guitar, melodic hard-rock approach), 'Take It Like A Man' (a deft slice of Samson slashing) and 'Soldier' (from metal muvvas More) bring your blood to the boil.
METAL MUTHAS Volume II (Rare N.W.O.B.H.M compilation LP 1980) Trespass, Eazy Money, Xero, White Spirit, Dark Star, Horsepower...
METAL MUTHAS Volume II (Rare N.W.O.B.H.M compilation LP originally released on in 1980) does have a few select gems on it. Particularly the opening and closing cuts from Trespass; a truly underrated British metal band, "Cutting Loose" by Xero, a great song with very soulful vocals and a totally bitchin' opening riff and killer lead break! White Spirit (the original band of current Maiden guitarist Jannick Gers') contributes the track "High Upon High" that features a great vocal performance from Bruce Ruff. Dark Star was another band who never hit it big, but does contribute a catchy hard rockin' tune called "Lady Of Mars." "Hard Lines" by The Raid (formerly Jameson's Raid) is a decent tune with a great opening bass line.
Trespass - "One Of These Days"
Eazy Money - "Telephone Man"
Xero - "Cutting Loose"
White Spirit - "High Upon High"
Dark Star - "Lady Of Mars"
Horsepower - "You Give Me Candy"
Red Alert - "Open Heart"
Chevy - "Chevy"
The Raid - "Hard Lines" (Jameson Raid)
Trespass - "Storm Child" £16
LYADRIVE: Another time, another place NWOBHM CD .. incl. One Of These Days (Trespass Cover) ...Check VIDEOS.
Lyadrive formed in 1979 At the Bandwagon of Neal Kay (known producer of the NWOBHM era). They released just one 7" & split up in 1985. Their first CD is Awesome! It consists mostly of old songs & some new songs and also 'One Of These Days' by Trespass. They thank Maiden, Leppard, Praying Mantis and NWOBHM in the credits, and sound like they have been all over the place in their search for stardom. The album includes three very NWOBHM (short for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) tracks recorded in 1984 as bonuses, and boy do they epitomise the time or what? Anyone who sings a song called 'We've Got The Rock' and is still going today deserves full marks for perseverance. There's eleven other tracks contained are really rather good. Over the years I've listened to enough demo tapes to recognize this sort of music, but nobody seems to be actually signing bands that sound like this. The last band I came across with this sort of musical attitude were Hunted from Bristol, and I get the distinct impression that if you bought their 'Crawl' album and liked it, Lyadrive will be right up your street. Each track is punchy and to the point, with good choruses and a good twin guitar backing.
