SURGICAL DISSECTION: The Inborn Malignance [With a name like Surgical Dissection, you pretty much know what you are in for: brutal death metal ala early Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy and very much in the Suffocation vein. The Inborn Malignance cd is quite appealing with its gutwrenching approach and overall chaotic sound. The vocals are deep and muffled, broken up by the occasional piercing shriek. Picture if former Kataklysm vocalist, Sylvian Houde, didn't employ such a shizophrenic vocal delivery. The riffing is relentless, the songs are short and intense. It is the drive behind this music that makes it so damn likeable. What is the surefire way for a band treading familiar musical paths to still sound vital and refreshing? Enthusiasm!

Here we have an extremely brutal band with incredible drumming (this guy
is killer with the double bass) and a huge guitar sound that some famous
band would envy. Some Morbid Angel and Sinister influences here and there
that feel really good mixed with Blunt Force Trauma´s trademark sound. The
vocals are extremely guttural and they add a lot of brutality to the band´s
music. All the riffs here are designed to crush the listener (and I think that is
why the bass follows a lot the guitars adding a lot of bottom end to the
sound) and they achieve easily the wanted effect. This is a devastating
release

CIRIBUS was formed in '98 by drummer Austin Spence, guitarist Aaron Johnson, and bassist Luie Gamboa in mendocino county Ca. They wanted to make a more original style of death/grind metal with the main goal of pushing the genre in new directions.
Their 1st demo release "crossing the river styx" sold over 500 copies within 3 months and was received well amongst the underground death metal scene in California.

Some of the best Brutal Death Metal! Hailing from Belgium, they take their influences from American bands like Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Deicide, etc.
and Polish bands, such as Vader. Uncompromising musical brutality -Brutal Death Metal- is what you get. It is a fact that they have produced an aggressive, technical, heavy, fast, somewhat melodic and tight-as-hell release.Their guitars sound thick and destructive, opting for a 'wall-of-sound' approach. The singer also spews forth his poison with conviction and power, making the whole onslaught much more sinister. And you can understand what he's saying! The injection of some slow catchy parts creates a certain dynamic, giving you room to breathe and allowing a certain riff to get stuck into your head. There are also some other semi-melodic breaks, similar to The Haunted and Darkane. This release is recommended to all fans of Brutal Technical Death Metal. It's something you've heard before and will hear again, but the songs are extremely well written and that's what counts.

KABBAL is a Death Metal band born in 1999. Drummer, guitarist and composer, Hazaël, setp up the band by recruiting musicians from the south of France. Soon Ghimel, also composer and arranger, joined Hazaël to create the core of the band, starting to write stuff pretty influenced by bands like MORBID ANGEL, SUFFOCATION, early SLAYER and similars. Diamond Prod. who signed them for the release of their debut album "Synthetically Revived" which was recorded in September 2002 at the Update Studios and features 8 songs of a heavy, fast, brutal & intense Death Metal.

Psychrist is a powerful, blasting black-tinged death metal maelstrom, blasting the winds of hate from out of Canberra since the early 1990s. The Abysmal Fiend CD is raw, coarse and blasting but inspired.

Now I must admit that when it comes to extreme metal from Australia, I am not entirely unbiased, but this is definitely one of their best death metal bands. This is a brilliant album and I'd to recommend it to any brutal deadbanger out there.
