1983's Go For the Throat was the debut album from Cleveland-based heavy metal band Shok Paris. The band more or less falls into the 80's American power metal scene, and early on had a hard-hitting sound similar to Omen, Armored Saint, Savage Grace, Malice and early Savatage.

Imagine the singer for Agent Steel or Steel Prophet singing on the first two Metal Church albums and you get an idea of what this cd demo sounds like. There are tons of 'big' names listed on the credits. The CD was produced by David Wayne (Metal Church/Reverend), was engineered by Joe Floyd (Warrior) and the vocals are handled by Vikk Real (Fiarro). The band is tight; all four songs contain some speedy licks, fast and furious drumming and hook-laden song writing. Killer high pitched vocal performance by Vikk as well. The recording itself sounds a bit dated, almost like it was recorded in the early 90's. Even the music has that retro-speed metal feel. Is this a bad thing? Certainly not in my book. This demo is excellent!

1984's Burning Star was the debut album from legendary underground metal band Helstar. Helstar was one of a number of American power metal bands that surfaced in the early to mid eighties that were highly influenced by the NWOBHM movement. Helstar as well as other bands like Omen, Warlord, Liege Lord, and to some extent Crimson Glory, Savatage, and Fifth Angel, built upon the foundation established by Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and the rest of the British metal scene.

Frank Pané rules! - 85%
There’s a label on the CD I bought that says “Aggressive Power Metal” - a very accurate description it turns out as you’re not likely to come across power metal more aggressive than this. The driving force behind the aggression is the rhythm guitar and the star of the show is undeniably guitarist Frank Pané. The mix is as rare as the skills Frank Pané brings to the table as this sounds a lot like Hollow’s unusual Architect of the Mind. Meaning, the guitars are raw, powerful and ridiculously prominent in the mix while the drums and bass are quite subdued. Vocalist R.D. Liapakis powerful voice is mixed quite high too and seems the perfect match for the meaty guitars.
VALLEY`S EVE: The Atmosphere Of Silence CD. Killer Power Progressive Metal. Signed / autographed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Melodic Progressive/Power Metal band (Featuring Mystic Prophecy Members!) from Germany's Rare 2nd full-length CD. Released on B-Mind Records in 1999.
Line up:
R.D.Liapakis: vocals(Mystic Prophecy)
Mario Cavasin: guitars
Martin Albrecht: bass(Mystic Prophecy, Stormwitch, Rough, Börn Again)
Markus Krings: drums
Tony Mang: keyboards
The German band VALLEY'S EVE, already heroes in the German (prog) metal underground because of their debut CD "prodigia", signed to B. Mind Records released their new album "The atmosphere of silence." VALLEY'S EVE managed to top their acclaimed debut CD by far ... the band has become heavier, more progmetallic, more powerful, more dramatic, more varied and even experimented with sequencers and synthesizers a few times (in other efficient way). On "The atmosphere ..." you get prog metal band riffs, mighty double bass drums, dramatic keyboards and good vocals. The vocals are good. A big step for Valley's Eve on their way to higher regions.

released by MIEZ RECORDS/ZYX (Sealed copy).
Bombastic Power Prog. Vanden Plas meets Savatage
Progressive Metal from Germany (Bad Grönenbach, Bavaria)
R.D. Liapakis - Vocals (Mystic Prophecy)
Frank Pané - Guitar (Red to Grey, Solemnity, Burn (Deu))
Martin Albrecht - Bass & Keyboards (Mystic Prophecy, Stormwitch, Rough, Börn Again)
Frank Huber - Drums (Casus Belli (Grc), Trace, Triple X (Deu))
Conclusievely convincing slice of prog-metal from Germany. Not only because of the piano-vocal-end tracks and saxophone during the quest Ulterior sometimes blows the mood of Queensryche's "Promised Land". The 70 minutes show: Valley's Eve have their distinctive style, the songs are catchy and also the sophisticated and powerful sound collecting Plus points.
The album:
The opener Escape rocks like the real thing. For an impressive intro goes into a song about carrying, the intro theme is picked up on several occasions. Here already is becoming apparent that with prog-metal complex songorientiertem has to do it, which is technology-and soligepfefferten discs like Symphony X and Co-Frick learning distance of (which does not mean that I can not from something!).

TYRANT EYES: The Darkest Hour CD [mixture of Nevermore, Hammerfall, Savatage and the later Sentenced]
A marvelous Scarlet production. Tyrant Eyes is a German power metal band that this year will celebrate their 10-year jubilee. Gaining the experience they now so much witness by playing at several local as well as many national gigs, it was not until the beginning of this millennium they released their first album. The result lies before me and it?s glorious!
The Darkest Hour can probably be represented by a mixture of Nevermore, Hammerfall, Savatage and the later Sentenced; up tempo powermetal with the progressive influences of thrashmetal guitarplay.
The music and sounds are in good balance, well-tuned and quite varied (it pleases with both thrashmetal, powermetal and ballads). For example Out of the Dark reminds me a lot of Hammerfall?s Legacy Of Kings, only with a thrashmetal-intro, while Command And Destroy consists more of ?Nevermore-staves? in combination with ?Savatage-burdens?.
The best song on this album? A difficult choice between The Dawn and The Last Light, but probably the first. It?s somewhat extremer than the rest of the album and contains a high Nevermore-percentage (I always go weak on that!).
