5.0 out of 5 stars That rarest of creatures: a rock guitarist with a brain.
What kind of solo album would you expect from a lead guitarist in a progressive rock band? Endless noodling over obscure chord sequences, perhaps? Not when it's Rush frontman Alex Lifeson.
KILLING JOKE: Night time LP Check videos!
Killing Joke have influenced many later bands, such as Nirvana, Ministry, Amen, Lamb of God, Nine Inch Nails, Porcupine Tree, Napalm Death, Amebix, Big Black, Opeth, Godflesh, Tool, Prong, Metallica, Primus, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Faith No More,The Banner, Blacklist, Shihad, Pitchshifter, Das Oath, Rammstein and Korn, all of whom have at some point cited some debt of gratitude to Killing Joke
Killing Joke continued to move from strength to strength with the visceral NIGHT TIME. The band's edges still displayed something of the brittle surface of earlier records, but its playing had become more polished, Jaz Coleman's vocals more intelligible and wrought with bitter irony and the charged energy of its signature sound was now being produced with a more sophisticated hand.

Killing Joke is the debut studio album of the London post-punk band Killing Joke. Released in August, 1980 worldwide under E'G Records, Killing Joke was self-produced and was considered an underground album. The album was recorded in early 1980, shortly after a small tour promoting the Almost Red EP. The lyrics of the album were written by front man and vocalist Jaz Coleman, which expressed his opinions on issues such as politics, death, hypocrisy, human nature, pollution, and exile.
The album has been considered by many bands as an influential and inspirational database. Several bands like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Tool, Soundgarden, and Metallica have all credited Killing Joke for a lot of their own material.

LIVING COLOUR: Time's up LP ...Check Videos!
Living Colour's second album keeps up the tradition of Vernon Reid's blazing, Hendrix-worthy guitar playing and Corey Glover's scorching vocals; the band's politics remain as unyielding as its hard rock is unflinching. TIME'S UP begins with a clock ticking behind a wall of noise, but the real bomb doesn't go off until about halfway through, when Living Colour declares that "Elvis Is Dead." "Elvis was a hero to most, but that's beside the point," Glover declares. "A black man taught him how to sing, and then he was crowned king." From other bands, that might sound like hot air, but Living Colour pumps out an articulate sort of hard-rock that suggests it can back up its claims and arguments. This is a versatile hard-rock band, too: "Type" is danceable commercial rock, and "Love Rears Its Ugly Head" is one of the genre's most funky ballads.
