Recorded: 1989
Genre: Rock, Hard rock
Length: 58:55
Label: CBS
Producer Steve Lukather, Steve Stevens, Richard Marx, Eddie Van Halen, Danny Kortchmar, Richie Zito
Lukather is the first solo album from Toto guitarist Steve Lukather released in 1989.
Lukather came about after Toto had been recording and playing for eleven years and the band consensus was to take a break. Since Lukather had a number of songs written that did not appear on Toto albums, he decided to pursue a solo album. His intention was to present a dimension of his musical work that fans would not be familiar with, and he collaborated with many notable musicians. Among the people involved in Lukather were Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, Richard Marx, Jan Hammer and fellow Toto members Jeff Porcaro and David Paich. Lukather has stated that the album is produced in a very simple manner and that one can hear a lot of ambient studio noise such as counting off on various tracks. He also credits bands Pink Floyd, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and guitarists Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton as influences on the album.

LONDON UNDERGROUND are a trio from Italy led by the drummer/vocalist Daniele Caputo who is also known for his work with one of best modern prog bands about STANDARTE. Borrowing influences from The BEATLES, PINK FLOYD, HAWKWIND, KIN PING MEH, BIRTH CONTROL and ATOMIC ROOSTER, the LONDON UNDERGROUND have recorded here first great of a debut album.
This short playing album is very experimental and yet it is still very enjoyable and accessible to listen to. There are some simply killer instrumental aspects on this album with heavy organ/mellotron drenched passages... everything a prog head would love. LONDON UNDERGROUND play a British styled 60's & 70's influenced pop-rock with lots of vintage keyboards such as Hammond, organ, Moog, clavinet and Mellotron. Highly recommended!

"Institution Waltz" is a new version of a Marillion song they demoed but never properly recorded.
--> three cover versions:
1. Sandy Denny's "Solo" appears as found on the 1993 covers album Songs from the Mirror.
2."Time and a Word" is a Yes song recorded during the Songs from the Mirror sessions, but left off the original version of that album. Yes guitarist Steve Howe, who appears as a guest musician on this track, was not yet in Yes when the song was written.
3. There is a version of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band's "Boston Tea Party", which is not identical with the one on Songs from the Mirror, but was newly recorded with the members of the original SAHB line-up.

When we embarked on "the quest of the best of," it was difficult to determine which criteria to use. What is "the test of the best of?" The biggest hits? Best performances? Best lyrics? Fans' favorites? Band's favorites? We decided early on to make it a two-CD set. Forty songs seemed like a nice goal, too. However, with 11 tracks making their debuts on this ApologetiX album, that left only 29 songs to represent the eight ApologetiX albums already in stores (and each of those albums contained 18-22 songs).

1983 "Bird Of Paradise" Pop Singles 3
White had been recommended to Pink Floyd by Kate Bush's former manager Hilary Walker, as they were looking for an additional guitarist for the live band on the In The Flesh tour in 1977. White's solo on "Pigs On The Wing", although ultimately not used for the Animals album version (it appears on the 8-track version), was his first time playing for the band. During the tour, White started off the show himself by playing bass on the song "Sheep", as well as soloing during "Have a Cigar" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part VIII".
