This band from France impressed me because they combine two common metal styles, thrash metal and death metal, very interestingly so. OSTRACIZED have the power of the thrash metal in the guitar sound and they combine them with the groovy bass and the powerful drums of death metal with the vocals being a mix between the Mile Petroza (Kreator) and Bill Steer (Carcass). And while you hear this perfect mix, suddenly you will be surrounded by some really nice melodies. Generally the band isn’t afraid to experiment with their sound and I am confident that this will be the key to their success. Personally I like this release and all the songs from “Prelude to Destruction”. Give it a chance; sure you will find it really interesting.

Come Down Cold was a CD release from the band Hatework. It was a demo released by the band themselves in 2004.

Formed in the summer of 1997 by the Engman brothers (Johan and Mattias) Hatework (under the name Soulgrinder) arose from the ashes of Cease to exist and Anchorhead which had booth been but to sleep. Later that year they were joined by longtime friend and drummer of Berserk Markel Månson on vocals. The line-up was completed by Fredrik Sjöstedt on bass.

After a while the need for a second guitarist became to obvious and Mia Karlsson joined to fill the empty spot. Due to some problems between members Fredrik quit the band in the spring of 1998 and a replacer was quickly found in Mauri Jofré. Later that year Mia quit the band and the band continued with only one guitarist.

The beginning of this album is slow as hell, almost doom but the music of the band does not follow that path, creating instead fast riffs with death thrash metal feeling. The guitars here spill utter heaviness over the listener having no mercy through all the tracks. The drumming gives sort of a classic thrash feeling to the music and sounds extremely raw, and here you can see that this guy is killer behind the drumkit, specially in some passages in "Out of Order" where he shows interesting arrangements in many passages. The vocals are deathly but this guys prefer to be brutal instead of guttural The mix is a little bit muddy and raw and I sugest the band to mix the drums a little bit clearer to fit better the guitars. Pure raw brutal metal.

Mottek are one of several European bands crossing the bridge from punk/hardcore music to the metal realm in the mid to late 80s (alongside fellow Germans Rumble Militia)and some might argue the validity of such a maneuver, but in both cases it turns out to be rather genuine. Fatal Violence is the only album by this band, but it's a thrash album with some amazingly tough riffs, a charging tone highly reminiscent of Metallica ala Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, with some of the methodical, cutting fortitude of Testament, Destruction or Kreator.

Thrash Special (#108 & #109, 2003)
The first special to be done in multiple parts, issue 108 feature Anthrax's Scott Ian on the cover and 109 featured Nuclear Assault. The Terrorizer logo was coloured to resemble a classic thrash metal logo and the Thrash Special logo done as a patch on a denim background.
Part one started with a history of thrash, an interview with Anthrax, Overkill, Warhammer and Voivod, an overview of the global thrash metal scene, personal recollections from members of Testament, Kreator and Destruction as well as former Metal Forces editor Bernard Doe and producer Andy Sneap. Reviews of classic gigs and overview of the main labels involved.
Part two opened with cover-stars Nuclear Assault, the second part of the global thrash report, classic gigs and the personal recollections, an overview of forgotten bands, politics, thrash fashion, crossover thrash, the legacy of thrash, the art of Ed Repka and a top twenty trumped by Slayer's 'Reign in Blood'.

These tracks are non album tracks, but they could lead any album to glory (not that either of Venom's first 3 albums would need it, as they are both brilliant). Cronos, Mantas & Abbadon were unique and they can't be replaced by any new shit that goes around in these days....
