5.0 out of 5 stars "Long way from love" establishes Mark Free as THE voice of AOR !,
"Long Way From Love" is the debut solo album by hard rock/AOR singer Mark Free originally released in 1993 and his last release before his controversial sex change. Having fronted a number of hard rock/glam metal bands such as "King Kobra", "Signal" and "Unruly Child", Mark takes a considerable musical turn with his debut album as "Long way from love" is a strictly AOR album; and while lacking the instrumental attack of his previous works, this debut is filled with powerful performances and strong songwriting while possibly standing as Free's best ever vocal performance.

The album is big on AOR rhythms, keyboard parts and impressive lead guitar while the emphasis is clearly on the choruses where Mark's performance is monumental. The list of top AOR moments one is offered here is impressive: "Stranger among us", "The last time", "Hard heart to break", "State of love" and "look love in the eyes" all incredible material with lyrics and melodies so genuine that `itch' the listener to come back and play the album time and time again.

This 12 song release includes appearances and contributions from many well known bands like King Kobra, Bullet Boys, Kingdom Come, vocals by 6 different singers and drums by the virtuoso session player Richard Cammon!!!!

According to Steve Tussey (guitarist) "Radio Cammon (the name of the album) was a project several years back, put together by Richard Cammon. Richard is primarily a percussionist who writes and sings a little bit. His idea was to gather songs and performances from a variety of musician friends, and to put it all together as if it were an actual band, after a fashion. Thus, "radio" Cammon. He asked me at the time to submit a few songs to the project, which I did. I think there are five of my tunes on that record, and I enjoyed singing and playing on the project. I had no hand in the final production or release, for better or worse. But it was a lot of fun. Two of those songs I recorded other versions of, but the versions of "Don't Know What I'm Doing," "Acting Funny," and "Waiting for Something," are the only ones in existence, so I'm glad we got them down". Steve

BULLETBOYS: Bulletboys [This American hard rock quartet was formed in 1987 by Mike Sweda (guitar, ex-King Kobra) and Marq Torien (vocals, ex- Ratt). They were joined by Lonnie Vincent (bass) and Jimmy D'Anda (drums) and took their musical lead from AC/DC, Van Halen and Montrose.
Championed by producer Ted Templeman, they signed to Warner Brothers Records and recorded their debut the following year. Torien's flamboyant persona attracted comparisons with David Lee Roth, while Sweda's guitar effects were based on a style first made famous by Eddie Van Halen.
