I was downright floored when I listened to this! I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed it. I would categorize it more as "party glam" than "sleaze glam" (if one can draw that distinction).
It's fun, catchy, and infectious. Imagine a blend of The B-52s meets Dr. Frankenfurter (The Rocky Horror Picture Show).
Many of the lyrics are outright hilarious (see I Get More Pussy Than Frank Sinatra), and the quasi-cover tune Black Madonna just has to be heard to be appreciated! The musicanship is first-rate, and the band is quite tight.
The performances and production are considerably more polished than the vast majority of glam I've heard over the years.
I like the overall attitude of the music. The band takes potshots at the mainstream, while never taking themselves too seriously. The music continually exudes "fun"; I can only imagine what this band is like live. I think they'd be an absolute blast!
If you're looking for some fun music, this is definitely the release for you.
As the title of track 3 states, The Party Starts Now!

Fletchanator's comment: San Fransisco glamsters Vain had a minor hit with Beat the Bullet when they released this, their debut album, in 1989. Their teased hair look was pure glam, and singer Davy Vain had a swagger about him, and on top of that was a great songwriter. This is a seriously underrated album by a great band.Track Listings

5.0 out of 5 stars Florida's finest,
this bunch of glamsters tried to sleaze their way onto the circuit ruled in the eighties by L.A.Guns and Poison, not forgetting Gunsnroses. A lot like Vain and one classic ballad, Red Rose is in the centre of this classic album. They should have been bigger than they were.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great overlooked band...
5.0 out of 5 stars An unknown hard rock gem!

POISON: Look What The Cat Dragged In (M.F.N TAPE) Excellent Glam- Sleaze
Poison was the ultimate party band of the '80s; they seized on the trappings of pop metal, and played them to the hilt. While their music was never exactly original, it was fun, and it still is. Look What the Cat Dragged In is arguably their most entertaining album, because it was recorded before they tried to infuse their music with "serious" themes that ultimately dragged down their later recordings. The best songs on this album are the unabashed party anthems, including "I Want Action" and "Talk Dirty to Me". "Let Me Go to the Show" is pure tongue-in-cheek, its adolescent viewpoint and fervor showing just how well Poison knew their target audience. A guilty pleasure if ever there was one.
