Cathedral

Probot was a heavy metal side project of ex-Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters rhythm guitarist and lead-singer Dave Grohl. An album was recorded out of the material and released in February 2004. It featured one single entitled "Centuries of Sin/The Emerald Law".

I stumbled across this little gem several months ago and it has been a regular in my cd player ever since.
This is the debut album from the Swedish power trio and it is simply awesome.

The second part contained an interview with Stratovarius, a scene report from the USA, a look at power metal labels and selection of prominent power metal artists. The issue also contained a Judas Priest poster.

Excellent late 80's Thrash Metal,
Acid reign mix their unique thrash/ punk style to create a whole new genre, theres no other band like acid reign. The band has such a tight sound at this point that i do belive this could be one of the greatest thrash 10's of all time. Nothing can beat this album for intensity and variety. A whirlwind of head-snapping riffing of full intensity - thrash songs that combine catchy hooks with killer riffs, and even the odd doomy moment (guitarist Gaz would leave after this album to form Cathedral). You may well find that this is long-out of print and costs a bomb to get hold of, but if you love thrash metal you NEED this.

As far as classic doom goes, Chicago's Trouble deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as other early trailblazers like Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Witchfinder General, and Cathedral. Since their inception in the early '80's, the five-piece played a distinct role in shaping the doom metal movement with albums like Psalm 9 and The Skull. Tagged as “White Metal” (as lame a categorization as any), Trouble was known mostly for singer Eric Wagner's overt Christian lyrics. Laid over the band's somber riffs, bastardized from the Sabbath cannon, this offered an alternative to the groups that were revealing in the standard demonic imagery.
