Killer NWOBHM from 1983 that influenced even bands like METALLICA. This is the band's first and best album, featuring the mighty BLITZKRIEG singer Brian Ross on vocals. Simply one of the most essential metal releases ever!

What an album this is!!
“Perfumed Garden”. www.megawimp.com/mp3/Sledgehammer_perfumed.mp3
Can you believe this???!! This must be one of the best songs I heard in my lifetime! Or the closing number, “Garbandal” – bloody hell!!! And the production of the album – the dry bass, the powerful yet discrete drums and the guitar with sometimes nearly Bob Mould-ish licks and tricks ….. un-fucking-real!!!!
SLEDGEHAMMER first appeared on my radar upon the release of the essential “Metal for Muthas” LP comp. The song “Sledgehammer” has a bit more of a, hmmm – maybe Motörhead-esque feeling to it and I could be totally wrong, but I think MEDIEVAL’s theme song sounds pretty similiar (though a lot dirtier and rawer).

Newcastle based band. Vocalist, Eddy Halliday & drummer Sean Taylor had left the band by this point, Taylor going on to play with a who's who of NWOBHM bands, including SATAN, PARIAH, BLIND FURY, RAVEN & BLITZKRIEG. With a new sticksman and vocalist, Warrior returned to action with this, which would prove to be their final release, 1984's "Breakout" EP, which was again released on their own Warrior label. This proved to be the end of the road for Warrior, with the band splitting by the years end.

Cumbrian NWOBHM Hard Rock act GOLDSMITH was created in Barrow-In-Furness in 1981 by former BITCHES SIN guitarist Perry "Pez" Hodder. Originally a trio, with Pez handling lead vocals, Glen Milligan on bass and Mike Henderson on drums, the group subsequently added Pete Adams on second guitar. The band debuted with the "Evil Woman" 7" on their own Goldsmith label in early 1982. A four song demo, "'82 Demo", was then circulated after the single's release.

CHROME MOLLY: Angst LP Check the live video!
Leicester based Hard Rock band CHROME MOLLY are best remembered for possessing a penchant for good time, anthemic Rock and noted for their onstage spirit. Frontman Steve Hawkins was previously with Loughborough based MEAN ARENA and his partners in crime lay claim to a wealth of previous engagements, notably guitarist John Antcliffe who had spent spells with ELECTRIC SAVAGE and BLITZKRIEG. The band was quick to build up a healthy local following, backed up by successive independent releases and undoubted enthusiasm which culminated in a much touted 'Best Of British' co headlining tour with BABY TUCKOO. The band pulled off another coup by filling in dates on OZZY OSBOURNE's 1986 UK tour after main support RATT were unable to fulfil the entire tour. However, despite their hard work, CHROME MOLLY failed to break into the big league - even with the valuable backing lent by signing with IRS Records.
