The tytanic break-up of Angel Witch gives us this
“…I hope you realize the cost of your decision, can’t you see that you were wrong…”
When the internal order of almighty Angel Witch began experiencing problems sometime in ’81 (or probably before), drummer Dave Dufort and bassist Kevin 'Skidz' Riddles evaded burning at the stake and formed Tytan, an eventual five-piece that is at times a little more commercial than the group they’d left, but in other instances flex larger muscles.
UGLY NOIZE INCORPORATED: Thrash Pop. 2 covers Motorhead's "Bomber" + Husker Du. Brian Tatler Diamond Head HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
VARDIS: 100 MPH Live LP, (11 songs) 1980 Classic N.W.O.B.H.M Check audio samples.
A hard-to-find 1980 British METAL LP. “Vardis were a pioneering three-piece new wave of British Heavy Metal between 1978 and 1986. They were from Wakefield in England, and consisted of frontman Steve Zodiac on guitar and lead vocals, Alan Selway on bass and Gary Pearson on drums. Original Vardis records are rare and are valued highly in most record collector's books and guides.
They took the unorthodox approach of comprising their debut album, '100MPH' (1980), of entirely live recordings. This is largely considered to be their finest hour and gained the band a large following early on in their career. They were invited to play the Heavy Metal Holocaust music festival in August 198l alongside Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne and Triumph. Around 30,000 heavy metal fans were estimated to have attended with the PA reportedly reaching new heights of amplification at over 100,000 watts.

WOLF: Head Contact 12". Check sample
Head Contact rock 'n' Roll
B/w "soul For The Devil" (extended Version) Chrysalis, Chs 12 2592
underrated NWOBHM band first called leviathan then Black Axe and finaly Wolf.
Carlisle based Hard Rock band Black Axe formed in 1977 under the original moniker of Leviathan. It would be three years and the adoption of the Black Axe handle before the Cumbrian group would gain any kind of recognition thanks to the release of the 'Highway Rider' single.
The single not only enjoyed strong sales and a good deal of press interest from 'Sounds', but it led to a major recording contract with Chrysalis Records. However, in retrospect the Chrysalis deal struck a fatal blow to any possible success, the band being persuaded to take on a further name change to Wolf. The single 'Head Contact (Rock n' Roll)' was released to favourable reviews, but a recorded album was shelved and the group dropped from the company roster.

LE GRIEFFE: You’re Killing Me [Very RARE N.W.O.B.H.M., Sexist cover. Kev Collier later joined the semi legendary ROGUE MALE! These late-arriving NWOBHM guys churned out a healthy dose of juiced-up guitars and pounding drums. ]
A Stoke on Trent quintet, formed in 1980 with original guitarist Amos Sanfillipo, LE GRIFFE's debut release ('Fast bikes' EP) sold out of the first pressing of 2000 following a short British club tour in early 1983. Another EP ('You're Killing Me') followed later that year. Unfortunately LE GRIFFE split in 1984 after the release of their debut album 'Breaking Strain' with Kev Collier then joining ROGUE MALE.
DIAMOND HEAD: Sucking My Love 12" [Recorded live at the Reading Festival ‘82] Check video.
It must be annoying to see Metallica who virtually started as a DIAMOND HEAD tribute band become much bigger than them. However:
1) Maiden had Ron Smallwood as manager, DIAMOND HEAD had Reg Fellows, a local cardboard manufacturer
2)DIAMOND HEAD didn't sign to a major label quick enough
3)MCA wasnt the label that was right for them
4)Harris' mum was their tour manager
5)changed direction too soon
6)Pressing problems on Canterbury
7) Harris got fed up of metal and wanted to do pop music, if you've heard the unreleased stuff youll know.

Chrome Molly, Midlands heavy metal darlings of the 1980's, created their own brand of "good time" Rock and Roll. They were formed in 1981 by John Antcliffe along with Drummer Chris Green, joined shortly after by bassist Nic Wastell. Front man Steve Hawkins completed the original line up in 1982.
