This is easily the best progressive metal disc of 1995. It is possibly the best progressive metal disc to ever come out of Italy. It is one of the finest progressive metal discs ever. The booklet that comes with the disc explains the basic premise of the concept behind this album: On June 22nd 1633 the Inquisition in Rome read the sentence that condemned Galileo Galilie, guilty of heresy, to imprisonment. Galileo, at the age of seventy, was humiliated by being forced to disavow his studies and far-reaching achievements to which he devoted his entire life. In fact, it was Galileo who gave birth to the age of experimental science. By prosecuting Galileo, the Holy Office and the by then society condemned the freedom of intellect in the progress of arts and sciences, the passive non-acceptance of mystical and philosophical limits and, most important, they condemned the superior value of individuality. If there is a band that combines Jamrock, Krautrock & fusion, then it must be German Progressive Rock Weirdos Trigon. "Herzberg 2004" sees them at their very height of creativity (at least until then) with a fantastic set list!
Their history is carved by the numerous changes in line-up which contributed to Trigon's creative potential as the band draws heavily on jamming as a source for their music, thus the input of each band member adds to the overall flavour of their music. The band has also become a gladly-seen guest on various festivals. As for example national on the "Art-Rock Festival", on the "ProgParade", several times on the "Burg Herzberg Festival" and at the Zappanale. International they were for example at the "BajaProg Festival" in Mexicali (Baja California, México) and at the Festival Crescendo near Bordeaux in France. 2005 they accompanied Nektar at their European tour.

Trucker is based out of Lawrence, KS. They accomplishments include being featured on FarmClub in 2000, B.E.A.M grant recipient, and in 2002 they were named by the AMA as one of the Top 50 unsigned bands in the U.S.
Their latest release, Nothing To See Here is a very broad representation of what Trucker was and what it continues to become. With older tracks like "Neither Nor I", "Never Wanna Be Without It" and "Junkies Anthem" combined with newer tracks like "Do You Even Care" and "Two Days" the band wanted to chronicle its 7 years of song writing the best they could in one CD. Although there were 15 more songs tracked for this record Trucker felt and album with all new tracks would not truly represent the past and the current. In a way it was putting some of the songs they still believe in to rest and freeing them to pursue new avenues of song writing and recording in the future.

It is odd to think that this album was released on Relapse, the home of chug and grunt, stable to the masters of genres that end in '-core'. Odd because, though there is a darkness to this album, it is subtle and wavering. Whilst their labelmates revelled in pitch blackness, 27 preferred to cavort at the edges of the shadows.

This record is not, as you might rightly expect, metal. There are guitars, yes, but nothing that is traditionally heavy, and certainly no sub-two-minute thrashes or gargantuan doom beasts. There is something almost folky about the songs here - especially in the female vocals - or even, in the case of album highlight 'Warm Hands, Cold Heart', jazzy, albeit in a subtly brooding fashion.

Twice is a young Metal Parisian band. They have received great reviews in all the mags (for example Metal Hammer UK gave them 9/10), radio stations, zines thanks to killer songs like "Sign of Life", "Follow Her (If You Love Her)", "Hanged Man", "I Hate Myself", "My Head On The Wall". They sound like a Deftones, Korn, Fear Factory crossbreed. The album is filled with furious guitars, funky bass, and growling vocals and includes the three tracks that appeared on the bands Foretaste E.P.; “Hanged Man,” “I Hate Myself,” and “My Head on the Wall.” Booga’s vocals are somewhat along the styles of Korn’s Jonathon Davis, but more intense in the vocal attack of growls. Two favorites on this album include “Without Love” and "Depends.” “Depends” has also been featured on a couple of compilation albums as well.

Mark Werchowski is from Oriskony, New York City and his album hits the mark right from the moment the chords of "Franscene" kick in. "Crash Your Party" is a super groovy hard rocker which reminds me of classic Kiss! Mark is
influenced by the likes of Tommy Bolin and Steppenwolf and it shows in his music. This is good; a thoroughly enjoyable record. Check out the excellent "Games" which you just can't help but sing-along to and it's the same score with "Baby Hold On" which has an early Whitesnake bluesy/melodic feel. "Corrupt Me" is also pretty cool, in fact the whole CD is very cool and structured around simple but effective songs with the only critical point being the production quality which has a very raw live feel, but maybe that's the way Mark wanted it to sound, like those old Bolin and Steppenwolf albums
